Job Summary

Manages the High School student activities program to ensure positive, healthy school environment. Manages the planning, organization, implementation and supervision of the elementary and middle schoolsʻ student activity programs that include organizing and developing strong student councils.  Works closely with administrators and other staff to plan and supervise  student-driven assemblies, presentations and other activities.  Coordinates logistics for elementary and middle school after school program and assists with field trips as assigned.

Essential Responsibilities

Student Activities

  • Oversees the student activities programs in the high school, providing guidance to student leaders in the planning and implementation of class and school wide activities.
  • Manages student activities budget  for student government  and related responsibilities to student council officers and class representatives. 
  • Develops schedules and supervises plans for all student activities on the school master calendar. 
  • Plans and organizes student council activities through formal and informational meetings, workshops and practical experiences. 
  • Coordinates transitional mentoring of student council leadership through grade 4-8 leadership retreats and training, new student orientation, new staff kokua, and PTSO representation. 
  • Responsible for communication with parents, students, staff, and community regarding student council and other activities.
  • Plans and coordinates school functions as assigned and may assist teachers with off/on campus excursions.

Budget and Planning

  • Develops and manages authorized student activities budget.  
  • Works with student government and class advisors to adhere to KS established financial and purchasing procedures. 
  • Prepares year end reports summarizing and evaluating all student activities. 
  • Plans, sets goals, and lists recommendations for the following year based on data and impact on school and community.

Advisory

  • Works closely with grade level teams, advisory teachers and counselors to develop a cohesive advisory program that includes positive relationship building, advisory activities for grades and between grades, and alignment with guidance and Christian education classes.

Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience
  • Good verbal and writing skills needed to communicate effectively with student, parents, staff, and public.
  • Good organizational skills required to coordinate numerous student activities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to manage multiple assignments/priorities.
  • Flexible work hours.
  • Ability to teach students in the Leadership class.
  • Knowledge of the Kamehameha Schools Organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching experience
  • Proven supervisory experience to effectively train and counsel staff member desirable.
  • Knowledge of leadership training and parliamentary procedures preferred.
  • Two or three years of administrative experience extremely helpful.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently sits, perform desk-based computer tasks and grasp light or fine manipulation, talk or hear.
  • Occasionally stand and/or walk, write by hand, and lift and/or carry, push and/or pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
  • Rarely twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach or work above shoulder, or grasp forcefully.

Working Conditions

  • This position may involve traveling to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business.
  • Work is conducted in an office/school environment and may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces.
  • Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours but evening and weekend hours are often required to meet goals and objectives

87,500.00 - 124,600.00 Annual

Based on the compensation range provided below, salaries are commensurate with job-related experience, skills and competencies, education, internal equity, length of work year, and other organizational needs.
