Kamehameha Schools, Kapalama Campus is looking for Part Time, On Call Auxiliary Services Technicians to provide quality control and generate work orders after school hours.
Our ideal candidate will have a building maintenance background and be able to work a couple days/week.
Job Summary
Junior-level position that works with direction and supervision to perform general and/or preventative maintenance and minor repairs to building components, vehicles and equipment and provides assistance to Auxiliary Services staff, as needed.
Essential Responsibilities
Maintenance & Repair
- With direction, may independently perform various tasks to maintain and repair building components, vehicles and equipment.
- Assist Auxiliary Services Technicians II/III by executing tasks including locksmithing, inventory maintenance and vehicle safety inspections.
- Reviews work to be performed in advance with Auxiliary Services Technicians II/III to ensure understanding of work-related risks and proper mitigation to ensure safety.
- Assists with assembling materials and tools for work to be performed.
- With guidance, prepares work areas for work to be performed, and cleans work areas, machines, and equipment following work completion.
Safety
- Attends all technical and safety- training, including on-the-job training, uses all PPE, and adheres to safety guidance.
- Reviews work to be performed in advance with Auxiliary Services Technicians II/III or manager to ensure understanding of work-related risks and proper mitigations to ensure safety.
- Reports all safety hazards to supervisor and/or takes immediate corrective action, if able to do so.
Administrative
- Records inventory transactions in computerized work order management system using desktop computers and/or mobile technology devices.
- Participates in campus and department events and activities as scheduled.
- Adheres to all employee handbook protocols and policies including mandatory reporting.
- Constructively identifies and suggests ways to improve organizational effectiveness and operational efficiency.
Position Requirements
Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.
- High School Diploma .
- Minimum 1 year of related work experience.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Able to be certified to operate forklift, telehandler and/or scissor lift.
- Good work ethic, including punctuality and good attendance.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills and knowledge; ability to demonstrate increasing competence with training and experience.
- Willingness to accept and follow directions.
- Basic understanding of inventory control measures.
- Ability to read and comprehend training materials.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow safety instructions.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems and components.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible schedules to accommodate after-hours school-related functions and activities.
- Demonstrated values of inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Commercial Drivers License.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- May require physical work; lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds.
- Often requires walking/standing, bending/crouching/reaching/etc., and at times sitting.
- Manual dexterity and strength to work with hand tools.
Working Conditions (including environmental conditions)
- Work may involve exposure to extreme temperatures and contact with hazardous materials, dust, dirt, smoke, unpleasant odors, loud noises, etc.
- Often work outdoors and indoors.
- Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours but may be conducted in evenings and weekends, as necessary.
