Job Summary:
Prepare, index, review and evaluate the quality of scanned documents to preserve the integrity of the health record. Records are viewed by Epicare users to support patient care decisions.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process documents for scanning into the electronic medical record. Index and scan documents, per established procedures, into the electronic medical record using the scanner and associated software application.
- Assure each document has patient identifiers and is placed or scanned into the correct medical record in the correct place via established procedures.
- Retrieve and file medical records using terminal digit filing system.
- Maintain the integrity of the medical record and ensure medical documentation is accurate, complete and meets any legal, regulatory or accreditation requirements.
- Operate and monitor equipment to ensure proper functioning. Perform routine maintenance on scanning equipment per established procedure.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
- Minimum one (1) year of medical records experience.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience with MS Windows.
- Per the National Agreement, current KP Coalition employees have this experience requirement waived.
Education
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
- N/A
Additional Requirements:
- Basic computer skills in MS Windows environment.
- Typing 35 WPM.
- 10 key.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three (3) years of experience.
- Advanced knowledge of medical terminology.
