Duties: Establish and enforce monitoring and support of firewalls for internetwork. Monitor and analyze device health and traffic patterns of routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers to identify recurring or potential impacting issues in the environment. Perform daily checks to report on infrastructure integrity. Monitor, identify, and correct potential production issues. Provide operational support to deploy and implementation teams. Work with engineering teams and Tier 2 group to understand Internet perimeter initiatives and deployments. Carry out quality assurance checks by reviewing proposed data changes, assessing risk, and providing mitigation and technical sign off. Assist with hardware diagnostics and support by performing root cause analysis to determine the cause of a problem. Recommend and implement solutions. Escalate to Tier-3 management structure when necessary. Review application behaviors on the perimeter network devices and identify anomalies. Identify bugs, work with vendors on remediation of the environment, and develop plan of action. Limit downtime to repair and reduce customer impacts. Replace or rebuild hardware for firm supported firewall and load balancer platforms. Undertake configuration support in accordance with change management procedures. Ensure documentation is up-to-date and accessible by the team. Serve as subject matter expert on firewalls for checkpoint and Cisco ASA platforms, as well as load balancers for F5 and Cisco ACE platforms. Perform troubleshooting of layer 1 through layer 7. Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and new hires.
Minimum education and experience required: This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field of study plus seven (7) years of experience in the job offered or seven (7) years of experience as a Network Specialist, Information Analyst, Systems Administrator, or related role.
Skills Required: This position requires seven (7) years of experience with the following skills and technologies: data networking; Cisco; supporting large-scale enterprise network topologies spanning at least 50 countries with over 2 million data network ports and including LAN, WAN, wireless, and transport; troubleshooting from Layer 1 to Layer 7 of the OSI model; data network security and services with firewalls including Check Point and Cisco; routers and switches; and proxy including Blue Coat. This position requires three (3) years of experience with the following skills and technologies: leading a network team; load balancers including Cisco and F5; packet capture analysis and tools including Niksun, Endace, cPacket, and ARX and AIX.
