IOWA SELECT FARMS JOB DESCRIPTION 

TITLE: Assistant Feed Logistics Coordinator                                                                   

REPORTS TO: Director of Feed and Nutrition

LAST REVISION DATE: 11.3.21

 

PURPOSE OF POSITION: 

This person is responsible for the feed ordering and budget for Iowa Select Farms' farms.  Internal and/or external personnel will determine feeding and management protocols that will be followed for each group.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Handle multiple phone calls, emails and process feed orders daily with minimum amount of error's
  • Be accessible and responsive to phone calls and emails in a timely manner
  • Multitask and prioritize items throughout the day
  • Setup and manage group feed budgets to insure proper feed comes from the correct vendor
  • Assist in ordering the correct amount of feed to finish a group of animals out in order to minimize feed transfers
  • Coordinate all feed transfers from closed groups to another appropriate group
  • Assist in identifying sites needing feed to minimize late order charges.
  • Work with sites to have optional delivery days to help feed mills even their daily tonnage out throughout the week
  • Maintain accurate written and computer records as required.
  • Demeanor is expected to be always positive and professional while being helpful, friendly and respectful to team members and management personal. 
  • Daily focus should be on success of the company, not personal issues.
  • Be at work on scheduled days and ready to work by given start time as attendance is critical to the success of this position. 
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • No direct supervisory responsibilities for this position.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position is performed indoors with the ability to work remote once training has been completed. 
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

 

PHYSICALITY REQUIREMENTS

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear.  
  • The employee must be able to continuously repeat necessary movements such as bending, lifting and different hand movements as needed to complete tasks
  • Ability to frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.    
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.  
  • The employee must have the ability to sit for long periods of time and to maintain focus on projects such as computer screens or detailed paperwork.

 

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

  • This is a full-time position with the expected days of Monday-Friday with weekend and holiday rotations 
  • Additional availability may be required during staffing challenges 

 

TRAVEL

  • No travel is expected for this position

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and OTHER QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Previous experience in swine production operations is desired and a general ability to follow protocols and give attention to detail. Computer literacy is important with competencies in Excel, Word, Access and various web browsers.

 

LANGUAGE: 

  • Bi-lingual is not required
