Senior Staff Engineer – Lexington KY

What are we looking for?

The senior staff engineer is responsible for engineering support and testing of EMC related items. This position will travel at least 25%. 

Shift/Schedule: Typical hours between 8 - 5.

What you'll do:

  • Develop, lead, and/or support testing, inspection and certification programs. 
  • Plan, coordinate and control progress of project work and keep the client informed. 
  • Review project files for compliance with operating procedures.
  • Make technical decisions relating to the interpretation of standards, applicability of standards and development of test programs. 
  • Interact with clients, accreditors and/or AHJs to resolve issues and elevate issues to the next level of management when applicable. 
  • Participate in technical committees and standards development. 
  • May present and publish technical papers.
  • Supervise, train and develop junior staff. 
  • Make recommendations on capital expenditures and commission new test apparatus. 
  • May serve as technical director for sub-stream or location. 
  • Generate and approve engineering judgments in appropriate fields. 
  • Final engineering review (signature authority) for final reports. 
  • Provide input into quality assurance of programs in appropriate fields. 
  • Organize resources for best utilization. 
  • Follow, implement and ensure Company policies and procedures are followed. 
  • Provide support to other departments or staff as required. 
  • Promote new business directions consistent with Company objectives. 
  • Accomplish special assignments as directed by management.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering
  • Masters degree is preferred
  • 10+ years directly related experience
  • Advanced experience with U.S., Canadian, and other International product safety standards, i.e., ANSI, CSA, UL, EN, IEC

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Ability to apply principles of logic or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
  • Ability to deal with non-verbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in its most difficult phases
  • Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables
  • Ability to make technical decisions and engineering judgments independently where limited standardization exists
  • Excellent communication skills, in both verbal and written formats
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel 25%
