Building Enclosure Project Specialist – St. Louis, Missouri

Intertek's Building Science Solutions (BSS) group is primarily focused on building enclosure consulting, commissioning, and field performance testing for new construction and retrofit projects. 

What are we looking for? 

The Building Enclosure Project Specialist will assist project team members to ensure the success of projects during various phases of design and construction. The work will also include new construction enclosure consulting and commissioning during design and construction phases and the evaluation, investigation, and repairs for existing buildings. This position will travel frequently within and outside the local area, depending on workloads and project locations; estimate is 25%. 

Shift/Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8-5PM 

What you'll do: 

  • Perform/assist with field performance testing and water leakage testing of roofing and waterproofing systems, windows, curtain walls, and other building elements 
  • Perform quality assurance observations and monitor the construction process to assure that roofing projects stay in compliance with approved construction drawings, specifications, and best-practice or warranty stipulated installation procedures 
  • Perform construction administration services and site visits 
  • Assist with/perform forensic investigations and documentation of existing conditions including wall claddings, windows, curtain wall systems, roofs, skylights, plaza waterproofing and below grade elements, etc 
  • Prepare professionally written field reports 
  • Learn to perform building enclosure reviews of architectural drawings, shop drawings and submittals 
  • Learn to prepare sketches and details using Bluebeam and hand-drawn techniques 

This position outline is a general guideline and does not represent all encompassing details. The position assumes that the incumbent has both the mental and physical requirements to carry out the above defined duties.  

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management AND 2+ years' experience in Building Enclosure consulting/ building construction industry OR; 
  • We will also consider 4+ years' experience in Building Enclosure consulting/industry in lieu of the bachelor's degree 
  • Registered Roof Observer (RRO) or Registered Roof Consultant (RRC) or ability to obtain in 6 months 
  • Technical knowledge of building construction, roofing, and other building enclosure systems  
  • Construction administration, progress observation and site inspection experience 
  • Ability to efficiently work on multiple projects, simultaneously, in a team environment 
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines 
  • Consistent and professional interaction and communication 
  • Ability to perform office tasks and physical labor tasks 
  • Ability to observe work from ladders, boom-lifts, scaffolds, swing stages, roofs, etc. 
  • Ability to travel frequently within and outside the local area, depending on workloads and project locations, estimate 25% travel time 
  • Valid driver's license and reliable driving record is required
