Description

1.         GENERAL DESCRIPTION of RESPONSIBILITY

 

            1.1       By delegation from the Area Manager, to direct, lead, and control the administrative, operational, and testing functions in the Branch Office,  and to ensure that these functions are carried out in a safe, legal, and ethical manner.

 

            1.2       To implement, maintain, and enforce in the Branch the Company's operating plans for:

 

·         Quality Management

·         Safety and Health

·         Environmental Compliance

·         Legal and Ethical Compliance

·         Training

 

            1.3       To ensure that, in carrying out the above responsibilities, the Branch turns a fair and reasonable profit for the Company.

 

2.         SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

 

2.1       To manage the branch inspection, testing, and administration activities.

 

2.2       To maintain high standards of customer relations and service.

 

2.3       To recommend hiring and dismissal, and to evaluate employee performance and maintain discipline in a uniform and consistent manner.

 

2.4       To prepare branch budget and control operating costs.

 

2.5       To seek new business.

 

2.6       To prepare and submit reports to upper management.

 

2.7       To be a positive company representative to clients.

 

2.8       To set a positive example for all employees through professional behavior and maintenance of a professional atmosphere in the workplace.

 

2.9       To carry out the above responsibilities, and all others which may be assigned, in a manner demonstrating support for and adherence to the Company's Safety Policy and Procedures, Quality Policy and Procedures, Ethics Policy, Environmental Management System, Vision and Strategy, and to exercise good judgment, common sense, and diplomacy in so doing.


 

3.         SUPERVISION EXERCISED

 

3.1       Normally, the Branch Manager supervises three direct reports; the Operations Manager, the Laboratory Manager, and the Administrative Manager, each of whom may supervise one or more others.  This system of supervision may vary among branches, and the variations for this branch are documented in Section 6 below.

 

4.         SUPERVISION RECEIVED

 

4.1       The Branch Manager reports directly to the Area Manager.

 

5.         QUALIFICATIONS

 

5.1       The Branch Manager needs a good knowledge of commodity inspection processes and a familiarity with the significance of quality data as generated by test methods.  There are no specific academic or experience requirements except those that might be established by the hiring authority responsible for filling the position.
