Your impact 

Be a part of an innovative and fast paced engineering team responsible for the development and design of RF satellite networks. This includes the selection of satellites transponders defining of capacity requirements maintaining of regulatory requirements link budget analysis for GEO satellite-based networks and the refining of aircraft antenna system requirements to meet coverage and capacity commitments. 

What you will do 

  • Responsible for the coverage and capacity planning of satellite air interface for networks with a focus on the selection of satellites and their corresponding beams to provide optimum performance. 
  • Develop link budgets for analyzing beam performance based on remote and transponder capabilities then updating link budgets with actual link performance. 
  • Create and maintain map-files needed to identify discrete service areas defined by satellite beams in the network considering technical and regulatory requirements. 
  • Develop capacity requirements for satellite networks by evaluating actual usage along with forecasted usage based on expected growth and feature support.
  • Conduct research projects to improve-and standardize the design process used by the team.
  • Interact with network performance and system engineering departments to continually improve the efficiency and effectiveness of network design practices.
  • Oversee various satellite and teleport vendors to facilitate technical implementations.
  • Review vendor contracts for technical specifications and capabilities.
  • Understand and maintain regulatory requirements for satellite systems on a country basis.
  • Analysis of RF performance for antenna and the associated RF systems.
  • Propagation prediction and measurement using propagation modeling software.
  • Budget for regional capital requirements.
  • Interface with operational and engineering teams in support of projects or network implementations. 

 Your required experience/skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered).
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in the satellite and/or telecommunications industry.
  • Understanding of electromagnetics/physics for the development of realizable antenna/RF designs.
  • Demonstrated systems engineering capability in programs that encompass system architecture requirements analysis design production integration test and transition into operations.
  • Technical competency in the following areas:
    • Link Budget Analysis 
    • Satellite Network design with Time Division Multiple Access (TMDA) systems such as iDirect Gilat or Newtec with an understanding of functionality performance and system operations.

Your success in this role will look like: 

  • Demonstrated leadership ability with the ability to work well in cross functional teams.
  • Strong communication skills that include technical documentation written reports proposals development and delivery of presentations and the ability to listen/communicate effectively with customers and vendors.

It would be nice if you had:

  • Advanced Degree in Engineering or related
  • Experience with data analytics and modeling with Azure, Python, Power BI, Tableau, etc
