Position Description:
Intelsat is currently acquiring its next generation of telecommunication satellite called Software Defined Satellite (SDS). This new type of satellites allow flexibility both in frequency allocation and coverage definition. Intelsat is in the process of developing transmission engineering tools to model the new payload of the SDS satellites. This internship will support the development of these analytical tools, the testing and validation of the new models and the processing of the data needed for the tools.
Job Responsibilities:
The project will have two components:
- Developing software routine in MATLAB and/or python to support the SDS payload modeling.
- Testing and validating new payload models developed for the SDS satellite.
Our intern will learn satellite payload and transmission engineering and radiowave propagation and will also enhance their software development skills.

1. Electrical Engineering or Computer science or Engineering degree
2. MATLAB, Visual basic, Python, C Sharp
12 Week Schedule:
- Week 1-3: Training in payload model and transmission engineering and tools
- Week 4-6: Implement testing software and start Testing
- Week 7-10: Testing and Validation
- Week 10-12: Reporting including final presentation.
Minimum Requirements:
- Eligible candidates must be one of the following:
- Part-time or full-time students who have completed 24+ credit hours (rising sophomores/juniors/seniors) and are enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university; Part-time or full-time students enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited college or university
- May 2025 graduate
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism, and maturity in the workplace
- Effective communicator in both written and spoken English
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in use of MSOffice Suite
- 3.0 GPA or above preferred
- This role is subject to ITAR/EAR; candidates must be a US Person (this includes US Citizen, Permanent Resident or Protected Individual such as an asylee or refugee).
Summer Intern Program Description:
- Paid ; 12 weeks starting on Monday, May 26, 2025 through August 15, 2025
- Schedule - 40 hours/week, Monday- Friday, 9 – 5 or regular core hours
- Hybrid environment (minimum 3 days in office location)
