Description

Ingram Content Group (ICG)is hiring for an Automation Engineer to support our Engineering team in La Vergne, TN.  The Automation Engineer reports to the Director of Engineering and partners with Manufacturing, Distribution, Logistics, and Information Technology teams to deliver breakthrough solutions for the enterprise with tangible results within the manufacturing and distribution centers. They will work with various stakeholders to drive continuous process improvements related to safety, quality, productivity, and manufacturing costs; as well as support operations through the design, development, testing, and evaluation of integrated systems for managing product distribution systems & print-on-demand processes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering or a related technical degree.
  • 5 years of experience with automation including PLCs, Industrial Robotics (i.e. Fanuc, Universal Robotics, Kuka, ABB, or Yaskawa), SCADA systems, Industrial Networks, etc
  • 2 years in a manufacturing or distribution environment is required.
  • 2 years of project management experience
  • 2 years of experience with machine vision systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team in a fast-paced setting.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments

Essential Duties:

  • Lead cross-functional teams to deliver and manage multiple projects including feasibility studies, multi-option production expansion analysis, capital project justifications and other analyses.
  • Initiates and leads the design efforts for new and revised products, processes, systems, and technologies that drive efficiencies and cost savings.
  • Proposes, plans, and executes new programs/projects that enhance performance or increases capabilities for the business.
  • Contributes to the planning and development of engineering strategy and provides technical leadership.
  • Performs development, fabrication, and deployment of prototype systems (including development of industrial robotics, end of arm tooling, programming routines, etc)
  • Utilizes and maintains prototyping shop space to develop new systems to drive improved manufacturing and distribution center performance.
  • 25% travel to various sites to lead the installation of new systems.
  • Travels to various vendors as needed to evaluate new applications of technology.
  • Communicates study results and makes recommendations to management.
