Information Technology Applications Assistant Supervisor
Position open until filled
Salary:  $66,919-$78,796, DOE (for 260 day contract)    
Class Summary:
The Information Technology (IT)-Applications Assistant Supervisor will be responsible for managing the Applications team personnel and resources to maintain the District's Student Information System (SIS), Employee/Financial System, and all other assigned enterprise systems.  Ensure that system, process analysis services, integration, and reporting related to those systems are provided.  Ensure all associated systems/programs are correctly integrated and function properly.  Acts as the main point of contact and administers/oversee all associated District applications and data integrations, to ensure district support services are provided in the most effective and efficient manner. Reports to the IT Customer Support Supervisor and ensures that enterprise systems align with District needs, are supportable by IT staff, and provided with excellent customer service.
 
Education, Training and Experience:

  • Associate's degree in computer science or related field desirable, with course work generally associated with a bachelor's degree preferred
  • At least three (3) years of experience maintaining an enterprise Employee Resource Planning (ERP) System and/or a Student Information System (SIS)
  • At least three (3) years of professional IT management/programming/analyst experience 
  • Experience effectively administering service contracts and managing technical projects
  • Experience supporting and maintaining an enterprise database
Essential Functions of the Position:
  • Evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques.
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating the district's Business Software System and the district's Student Information System.
  • Ensures the development of a backup and recovery scheme for the Business Software and Student System Software Database environment.
  • Defines and monitors multiple projects.
  • Provides technical and administrative supervision of the Applications team
  • Must interface with IT staff and user community to coordinate relating to the Business and Student Software Systems.
  • Provides technical support for the district's Business Software System and the district's Student Information System.
  • Assist end-users by researching and defining project parameters.  Performs analysis of potential program applications and recommends modifications.
  • Ensures integration of identity source systems to an Identity Management system that provisions user accounts in various directories/programs
  • Performs troubleshooting and monitoring to ensure application programs and systems are operating correctly.
  • Advise district personnel in basic application areas.  Interface with end-users to answer questions and identify problems.
  • Creates and maintains all required system reports utilizing automated reporting tools; performs the associated database management functions to accomplish this.
  • Maintains Business System and Student System Databases.
  • Works with Business Services and related Departments to ensure all needs are met and works with related Departments to ensure all Student Information System software needs are met.
  • Uses current computer languages and tools to create interfaces between the district's integrated business and student system and other district software.
  • Identifies staff development and training needs and submits requests for training when needed.
  • Provides documentation for all automated business and student systems on both the technical and the end-user level.
  • Works with IT Management and/or Purchasing Department and outside vendors to obtain the appropriate software and services.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Skills:
  • Extensive work with IT systems at all levels – Network, Servers, Cloud integration, desktop/end user support, Identity Management, etc
  • Proven ability to work cooperatively with a variety of personnel from different departments/roles
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing regarding policies, procedures, or special situations
  • Ability to conduct training, write documentation, and perform informational sessions
Technical Skills:
  • Ability to perform systems analysis and design
  • Ability to use system editors and utilities with the various systems used by the school district
  • Knowledge of a variety of programming/scripting languages
  • Knowledge of database design, integration, and reporting
  • Ability to write clear and accurate documentation for both end-users and technical staff
  • Possess outstanding communication skills
  • Possess organizational and time management skills
Physical Requirements: 
  • Sedentary Work:  Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
