Surgical and procedural services are an increasingly important service line within the Valley Health Systems and a clear strategic priority for growth.# Successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to clinical service excellence and have a strong record of collaborative leadership and commitment to high quality clinical care and community engagement. The successful candidate will have an established reputation in their surgical specialty and demonstrated experience in leading implementation of a vision through innovation and accountability. In addition, they will have an MD or equivalent degree, and possess a demonstrated commitment to innovation, and have the leadership skills necessary for guiding faculty development and advancement of Valley Health Systems as a leader in high quality and cost effective surgical care.# Successful candidates will work with hospital leadership to produce an energetic and inventive vision for growing clinical volume, improving clinical productivity and further reorganizing clinical expertise of unique surgical services. The surgical medical director will also work to facilitate collaborative work between departments to grow and improve existing spheres of clinical care and develop new ones.# Responsibilities: The surgical services medical director (SSMD) will: Work with OR leadership and the quality department to help achieve superior surgical outcomes including patient experience.# Work with quality improvement to align surgeons with best practices.# Support case and peer review to identify trends and support remediation plans.# Provide a forum for education and case review.# Help ensure that surgical services can provide core services that match our community#s needs.# Assist with identifying key strategic areas of growth.# Assist with recruitment and retention of surgical physicians and advanced practice providers.# Provide medical insight into workflows and routines to maximize the efficiency of the OR and ancillary staff.# Work with anesthesia leadership to ensure best practices in the OR. Identify opportunities for revenue and service growth.# Work with HIM to ensure compliance with medical records policies.# # Core competencies: Excellent interpersonal skills, superior ability to communicate with medical staff and produce alignment.# Respond to emails and secure text messages in a timely fashion to ensure responsiveness to surgical staff needs.# Demonstrate an ability to balance a clinical workload while still attending and actively participating in meetings.# Demonstrated track record for quality in clinical care and familiarity or experience with the business side of medicine. Qualification # Job Requisites: Education: Graduate of an accredited school of medicine; completion of a residency program in surgery at a U. S. Hospital Licenses/Registrations: Current license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; current DEA license and Massachusetts DPH controlled substance registration; Board certified Surgery# Experience: Five years experience in delivery of patient care in surgery; leader in high quality and cost effective surgical care.#
