Essential Duties:
- Unrolls and lays out material along calibrated scale on cutting table or measures material with ruler and cuts material into lengths. Spreads fabrics or goods on cutting table in single or multiple layers prior to cutting.
- Positions pattern or template on material, marks according to the pattern or template and cuts out parts. Cuts notches or marks identification symbols on parts
- Shapes or trims excess material from parts
- Matches materials for color or shade. Observes and identifies any quality discrepancies and notifies the QC inspector or supervisor
- Assembles and/or folds articles after cutting
- Positions and identifies cut parts in bundles prior to transporting to the sewing department
- Observes operation of the cutting equipment, spreaders and Philo tables, to detect and report to the supervisor or maintenance mechanic any malfunctions. Cleans and oils the cutting tables and all equipment in accordance with the maintenance instructions.
- Operates production equipment such as straight knife, scissors, fabric welder, circle cutter, strip cutter, grommet setter
- Supports, communicates, reinforces and defends the mission, values and culture of the organization
- Adheres to all quality and safety standards
- Supports other projects and performs duties as assigned
Education/Experience/Other Skills & Abilities:
- High School diploma or GED, In lieu of diploma, relevant work experience demonstrating the required job skills and abilities needed to successfully perform the job.
- 1-3 years related experience
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Ability to interpret and effectively use patterns, templates, rulers and squares
- Ability to calculate angles, percentages, area, circumference and volume
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Ability to work a varied schedule, including additional hours (overtime) as necessary
- Ability to form fit and find design solutions for form fitting and corrections / improvements to existing designs
- Operation of small power tools, other hand tools and computerized and high-pressure equipment
- Ability to operate electric or pneumatic equipment such as fabric welder, circle cutter, strip cutter, grommet machine, hot knife, round and straight blade scissors
