Job Summary BASIC FUNCTION
HCSC is looking for a dynamic individual to join its Legal Department! Under supervision, this position will be responsible for performing legal professional staff duties, including Legal Operations activities, of a complex and confidential nature for a Vice President or Divisional Senior Vice President in research and resolution activities; performs specialized and confidential duties which often require independent judgment; prepares routine to moderately complex documents, agreements and pleadings related to litigation and non-litigation matters; and provides administrative duties (extensive calendaring, heavy travel, expense reporting, etc.) and legal support to attorney teams.

NOTE: this role is hybrid/flex and requires in-office attendance 3 days per week, working from home 2 days; relocation will NOT be extended, sponsorship is NOT available ~

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • 2 years of college with 2 years' experience as a legal assistant in a law firm or corporate legal department OR 4 years' experience as a legal assistant in a law firm or corporate legal department.
  • Excellent verbal, written and organizational communication skills.
  • Strong PC proficiency to include Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Workday.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work well in a demanding and fast-paced environment.

PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Notary Public and Paralegal certification from an accredited program or combination of education and experience.
  • Insurance industry experience.
  • Litigation experience.
  • Knowledge of case management software. 
  • Strong research skills and proficiency in using various research tools, including the Internet, Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER, SEC/EDGAR.
