Employee Health Nurse (RN)

 HCA Houston Healthcare Medical Center is a 444-bed acute care hospital in the heart of Houston's museum district. Established in 1975, the hospital has been serving Houston for more than 40 years. It provides a wide range of medical services, including cardiology, bariatrics, orthopedics, neurology, emergency care and more.  

The hospital is affiliated with HCA Houston Healthcare, part of the HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division. The division is a comprehensive network of hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, emergency centers and diagnostic imaging facilities in greater Houston, Corpus Christi and South Texas. Facilities include: 17 hospitals, nine ambulatory care centers, 13 off-campus emergency centers, and a regional transfer center.   

The Employee Health RN/LVN is responsible for assisting the Employee Health Manager to oversee and coordinate the Employee Health and Safety program.  This program ensures that on-the-job employee injuries/illnesses are managed in a manner that provides quality care to employees and complies with corporate/hospital policy.  The Employee Health RN/LVN also plays a major role in providing pre-employment screenings, administering annual health screenings and compliance with all regulatory requirements related to employee health.  The Employee Health RN/LVN works closely with Infection Control and the Safety committee, in addition to the hospital leadership, to promote a safe, healthy workplace for all employees.

What you will do in this role:
  • Documentation, assessment, care, light-duty assignments and return to work for all employees who experience an incident on the job that could or did lead to injury or illness.  Is responsible to ensure timely and complete documentation of all employee occurrence report.

  • Coordinates the care of employees who are injured on the job, including referrals, appointment setting, medical record documentation and invoice approval for payments to service providers.  Serves as a case manager for employee injuries 

  • Maintains frequent contact with hospital leadership team regarding injured employees, light duty assignments, projected return to work and other pertinent employee information. 

  • Assist with the Employee Health program, including pre-employment and annual health screenings, employee inoculation and testing programs, Blood borne Pathogens and TB Control programs, and other regulatory requirements.

  • Serves as an active member of the Safety Committee and Infection Control Committee, providing reports and feedback as required.

  • Provides education and support for Employee Health and Safety program to hospital leadership team.

  • Administers first aid to minor employee injuries.  Makes appropriate medical referrals for cases requiring medical attention. 

  • Other special projects as assigned.


What qualification you will need:

 Experience - Minimum one year general clinical nursing experience required.  Previous experience with an Occupational Health or Employee Health/Wellness program preferred. 

 Education – Current Texas Nursing license as RN or LVN.

Special Qualifications - Excellent organizational skills and strong computer skills required, especially Microsoft Word and Excel. Excellent written, oral communication and collaboration skills.
