Description

The Transportation Coordinator will support managers in the overall operation of the DC Transportation Team, local pickup and delivery, store delivery and inbound vendor loads. Coordinators will ensure all operations are performing with optimum efficiency, organization and safety. The Transportation Coordinator's role includes: accepting load tenders, scheduling, and coordinating with outside vendors for freight pickups, planning store deliveries, entering trip information into systems for charges, maintaining records of daily and weekly miles for planning and reporting, invoicing drayage and traffic loads. Daily communication with drivers and yard associates is required to ensure that the rapidly changing demands of the organization are met.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Plan and coordinate drayage of shipping containers from rail yard to distribution center
  • Plan and coordinate inbound/outbound vendor loads to the distribution center
  • Plan and coordinate store deliveries from the distribution center
  • Assist with monitoring drivers arrival and departure times
  • Update computer systems with estimated times of arrival to the distribution centers (Duty duplicated on clerk job description)
  • Plan and prepare driver's daily dispatch to ensure on-time deliveries
  • Monitor drivers logs to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations
  • Monitor drivers available hours, duty status and pre-plan work assignments
  • Perform data entry of payroll and accessorial payroll items (Duty duplicated on clerk job description)
  • Assist with daily reporting including end of shift, trailer schedules, driver mileage, etc. (Duty duplicated on clerk job description)
  • Properly allocate store charges into billing system (Duty duplicated on clerk job description)
  • Maintain and Invoice local pick-ups, drayage and traffic shipments
  • Communicate and coordinate with vendors, internal customers, and shippers regarding traffic/vendor pick-ups
  • Monitor fuel inventory levels and process orders to maintain proper inventory (Duty duplicated on clerk job description)

Requirements

Education (Required):
High School Diploma or GED required. Some college preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills (Required):
  • Knowledge of PC's and word processing software, as well as database programs (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) with the ability to access and enter information quickly and accurately. 
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to operate general office equipment (fax machine, photocopier, computer printer) stationed between 3 & 4 feet high.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift items (manuals, supplies, etc.) weighing up to approximately 50 lbs.
  • Strong time management skills are a must
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with specific attention to detail.
  • Verifiable work history.
  • Knowledgeable of DOT regulations.
  • Requires the ability to work flexible shifts in a fast-paced work environment including some weekends
Experience (Required):
4+ years experience

Physical Requirements:
  • Requires walking the distribution center to meet with internal customers.
  • Requires prolonged sitting at desk to enter data into computer system requiring use of both hands.
  • Making and receiving telephone calls requiring arms to move in reaching motion frequently.
  • Occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds and moving short distances.
  • Occasional bending, twisting, crouching, and balancing may be required from time to time.
  • Ability to proficiently communicate orally, written, and typing.
  • Listening and auditory skills required.
The anticipated rate for this position is $30.00 - $33.00 per hour depending on location, knowledge, skills, education and experience. In addition, we offer comprehensive and competitive benefits to Associates (and their families) such as early access to pay, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability. Eligible Associates are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan.   Associates will accrue paid time off up to 152 hours per year (inclusive of PTO, floating holidays, and paid holidays). Paid sick time up to 64 hours per year unless otherwise required by law.
