Description
The Senior Accountant is proactive and contributes to the delivery of accurate financial statements through account maintenance, reconciliation, and analysis.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare account reconciliations for assigned accounts which will generally include the more complex general ledger accounts
- Perform month-end close activities, including journal entry preparation for all areas assigned
- Ability to make judgmental estimates with proper support and documentation
- Perform monthly analysis and commentary for period over period changes along with variances to budget/forecast
- Analyze accounts and resolve discrepancies
- Ensure all accruals are recorded properly
- Review operating expense accounts to ensure all transactions have been properly recorded provide commentary on changes from period to period
- Provide commentary on changes from period to period
- Investigate and follow-up on account inquiries from operating managers
- Maintain detailed supporting schedules for balance sheet accounts
- Enhance processes and ensure internal controls are followed
- Prepare schedules for auditors
- Engage in frequent face to face, video, and telephonic communication with functional business leaders
- Assist in any analyses and investigations as needed in preparation for meetings with Sr. Management (i.e. Op Reviews, Annual Budget, Strategic Plan, etc...)
- Assist others in the group as needed

Requirements
Education (Required)
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance required
- Strong GL accounting skills
- Detailed oriented
- Ability to provide clear and concise documentation
- Ability to provide insight & assistance to staff accountants
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, accounting principles, internal controls, and financial reporting
- Ability to develop, improve, document and follow processes
- Ability to provide high quality deliverables while meeting deadlines
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Must be proactive and able to take on projects from idea through completion
- Excellent project management, organizing and planning skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Understands the team concept and has a strong desire to be a contributing teammate
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel
- Integrity and ethics that are beyond reproach
- Experience performing Lease Accounting, ASC 840 and/or 842
- Working knowledge of Oracle
- Working knowledge of TM1
- 5+ years of progressive responsibility in accounting and financial reporting
- Experience preparing GAAP financial statements (P&L, BS, CF)
- 2+ years' experience working for a Big 4 company preferred
- CPA Preferred
