Position Overview:
As a Manufacturing Engineer at Springfield ReManufacturing Corp. - East, you will play a critical role in analyzing, developing, and executing improvements to enhance quality, reduce costs, and optimize current/new processes. You will focus on the set up of machining and processes for our engine program. You will utilize your engineering expertise to design tooling and fixtures, assist production operators, and drive new product introduction processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and optimize machining processes (CNC, milling, turning, grinding, etc.) to improve product quality and reduce cycle times.
- Evaluate and recommend new machining technologies and equipment to enhance manufacturing capabilities.
- Develop and implement process control methods to monitor and maintain consistent quality.
- Analyze current manufacturing processes and implement improvements to enhance quality, cost-efficiency, and delivery.
- Design and source tooling and fixtures to support production needs.
- Apply knowledge of product design, materials, machining, fabrication processes, and quality control to optimize manufacturing operations.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve machining-related issues that arise in production, such as tool wear, part defects, or equipment malfunctions.
- Provide technical support to operators and production teams, ensuring quick resolution of machining problems.
- Educate manufacturing operators on key concepts and best practices.
- Collect and analyze data to support process capability studies, gage studies, and equipment utilization studies.
- Support the planning and execution of capital investment plans.
- Engage in the New Product Development process, contributing through all phases of new product introduction.
- Understand and adhere to Hazardous Material and Waste Management principles and regulations.
Qualifications:
- B.A./B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Industrial Management or 10+ years in engineering within a manufacturing facility.
- Proficient in programming CNC machinery using CAM systems and Fanuc controls (G Code).
- 3-5 years experience working with machinery used in a manufacturing facility
- Experience with blueprint specifications.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical and professional information effectively.
- Strong initiative and capability to work independently.
- Diverse mechanical knowledge, including engines and engine components.
