Position Summary:

A Director of Education's mission is to ensure that the academic program at Fusion is robust, adaptable, and innovative; student outcomes are clear and measurable; the teaching staff is well trained and supported.

*We will support your relocation efforts to the Walnut Creek area, and you may be eligible to receive reimbursement for relocation expenses according to policy.

Salary Range: $70,000-$80,000 USD. Position is bonus eligible.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Outcome 1: Hire and develop “A” player core staff of leaders and teachers, as defined by staff meeting or exceeding the outcomes and expectations as defined on their relevant scorecards

  • Complete timely staff evaluations/observations using, scorecards, development tools and/or EPIC! performance evaluations
  • Effectively utilize the progressive discipline process and development tools to either improve or remove any underperformers
  • Oversee the strategic hiring, training, and development of administrators and teachers throughout their employment
  • Follow the formal hiring process that is proactive and regular
  • Utilize training and development modules to establish a plan for initial training and continued development of each administrator and teacher
  • Oversee the planning and execution of campus professional development opportunities for all staff
  • Oversee the training of teachers in proper communication with parents, audit and assess its success
  • Oversee the empowerment and management of the MT/Department Heads to accomplish programming goals
  • Oversee regular classroom observations of teachers with the DHs/MT
  • Oversee a successful substitute teacher process

Outcome 2: Deliver high quality and measurable academic program for all students. Student records, including the student snapshot & IROC goals, charting, differentiated gradebooks, and transcripts, are complete, accurate and utilized by staff as a resource

  • Each year, meet or exceed 90% of students completing MAP and Mindprint testing and results used by teachers as tools to inform instruction
  • Course learning outcomes are met and documented, minimum attendance is met, and Mastery Sessions are utilized as needed
  • Ensure the utilization of formal and informal assessment and student survey results to facilitate student goal development (IROCs), develop campus-wide initiatives, and inform campus strategic planning
  • Oversee academic integrity during transitions (teacher absences or change)
  • Ensure teachers meet learning objectives and uphold the integrity of the curricula, leveraging DH/MT expertise whenever possible
  • Oversee the course completion process
  • Oversee staff understanding of student learner profiles in order to inform instruction and implement ongoing Fusion goals
  • Interpret and share your school's measurable academic victories and areas for improvement with staff, paren­­ts, and professionals
  • Oversee the Department Heads/MT: ensure their field of study is cutting edge, differentiated for each student, and that materials are appropriate and secured when needed
  • Oversee the effective use of technology to enhance student learning
  • Encourage teachers to highlight and share best teaching practices through collaboration, planning time and presentations at staff meetings
  • Oversee the Lead Teacher Program

Outcome 3: Encourage the holistic development of Fusion students through the promotion of Fusion's mentoring and teaching philosophy

  • Address emergent student issues in collaboration with appropriate parties
  • Oversee the adherence to appropriate boundaries to maintain safe mentoring relationships between all staff and students
  • Oversee the development and enhancement of positive behavior supports to improve student resiliency and prevent crises
  • Own the effective documentation and communication of student issues to interested parties to encourage a team approach

Outcome 4: Envision and build a vibrant staff culture

  • Maintain and steward the Fusion culture by creating a school environment and vision that is uniquely yours and is consistent with Fusion values
  • On an annual and quarterly basis, use the Strategic Planning Process to establish goals and manage team expectations to ensure timely completion
  • Provide opportunities for staff to observe best practices from other Fusion staff members (create a culture of collaboration and bi-directional feedback)
  • Oversee the planning and execution of staff events and fun nights
  • Demonstrate servant leadership through intentional connection, providing resources, and removing roadblocks
  • Ensure that Fusion standards, values, and culture are fostered and upheld on a consistent basis
  • Inculcate new staff to the Fusion culture, and the unique characteristics of your campus

Outcome 5: Lead effectively through modeling exemplary personal professional development, prioritizing campus initiatives and aligning with organizational goals

  • Lead by example by seeking out development opportunities to strengthen your skills as a mentor to your staff
  • Actively participate in all rhythm meetings
  • Demonstrate leadership by taking ownership of thesuccess of your campus

Outcome 6: Create Raving Fans out of your students, parents, teachers, and professional community as measured by satisfaction surveys, testimonials, and personal performance evaluations

  • Understand and contribute to strong enrollment success through the development of parent referrals
  • Achieve high-level stakeholder satisfaction results, focusing on continuous improvement as evidenced by successful initiatives and deliverables
  • Always provide a celebrity experience for the students, parents and teachers that you serve
  • Oversee all parent communication on campus, including the communication of student progress and service recommendations

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least three (3) years of teaching experience. School administration experience strongly preferred.
  • This person needs to relate well with others, and have experience with students who have learning differences.
  • Experience with students with ADD/ADHD is a plus.
  • Monitoring and enhancing an academic program.
  • Onboarding, training, and ongoing development of teaching staff and Department Heads.
  • Creating and executing a vibrant staff culture.
  • Being an invaluable member of the campus leadership team.
  • Creating raving fans out of students, parents, teachers, and the community.
