Position Summary:

Continually evaluates current products longevity for PVD vehicles and proactively identifies future system needs.  Collaborates with select suppliers to develop and test new compliant systems while applying knowledge of engineering and regulatory industry requirements. As a member of the Advanced Development Team, you will be collaborating with Product Development to develop and build well rounded industry leading performance vehicles. In this role you will be staying abreast of existing and upcoming OEM powertrain technology to maintain and grow our performance vehicle line up. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Takes the lead role in conducting engineering studies on requirements for new powertrain performance products, associated and subsystems components, and structures.
  • Analyzes supplier proposals, CARB coverage and EPA requirements for new systems.
  • Uses computer-assisted engineering software and equipment in the evolution of powertrain performance development.
  • Plans and develops experimental test programs.
  • Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
  • Works with development and design groups to prepare design modifications as required to accommodate system needs.
  • Studies engineering and technical publications to keep abreast of technological changes and developments in industry.
  • Applies engineering principles to design, modify, or develop facilities, testing, machines, equipment, or processes.
  • Assists in the process that determines feasibility of designing new plant equipment or modifying existing facilities considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning, and other technical and economic factors.

Specific Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required:

  • Ability to work in a team environment using excellent communication skills in both technical and non-technical areas of business.
  • Experience in the use of powertrain testing and assessment tools in the advancement of performance.
  • This level requires skills characterized by the inclusion of work that requires a heavy understanding of theories, principles and practical application in the design, development, testing and releasing of new products.
  • Thorough understanding of CARB and EPA requirements for OEM and Aftermarket applications.
  • Has shown the ability to lead program development in high pressure situations.
  • Seen as an expert in the field of powertrain performance.
  • Mentor other team members on how and why the proposed solutions are best to satisfy the business need.
  • Assist with the installation of a data acquisition system(s).
  • Assist with the calibration of sensors and data collection.
  • Actively uses data acquisition system(s) to reach vehicle performance targets
  • Capable of giving professional presentations to upper management.
  • Requires very little oversight.
  • Records data, makes computations, analyzes results, and writes reports.
  • Follow current Fox Factory PVD process as well as drive changes to increase efficiency.
  • Works in a safe manner in accordance with Fox Factory policies.
  • Maintain PVD machinery and assets according to documented schedule.

Position Qualifications:

Education:

Masters or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Automotive Systems Engineering or related Engineering field.

Experience:

7+ years of Design or Product Development or 4+ years of experience in an engineering position related to automotive drivetrain system design and use, ability to fully understand concepts and practical application of engineering designs.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

·Indoor office/lab environment and various outdoor testing environments.

· Up to 25% domestic travel time. International travel could be required.
