The Import/Export Analyst will be based in Salt Lake City, UT, reporting to the Senior Materials Manager.

In charge of providing operational expertise to enhance the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the department by establishing and maintaining strong customer relationships, liaising with operations, customers, and carriers to ensure customer satisfaction and to deliver maximum advantage to the business.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Selecting carriers and preparing shipping documents.
  • Ensuring import compliance and maintaining record-keeping systems per U.S. Customs requirements.
  • Coordinating logistics for international shipments by liaising with internal and external customers, freight forwarders, and customs officers.
  • Conducting audits to address potential compliance issues alongside Trade Compliance Coordinators.
  • Coding freight invoices and resolving discrepancies, including short-paid invoices.
  • Updating the carrier routing guide and notifying relevant departments of compliance issues.
  • Filing claims for lost or damaged freight and maintaining claims data.
  • Classifying imported items using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and ensuring all required documentation (FDA, FCC, etc.) is filed.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing and Manufacturing to clarify issues and ensure adherence to customs guidelines.
  • Proactive communication and problem-solving skills to maintain and improve import/export compliance standards.

The experience we're looking to add to our team

  • Typically requires 5+ years experience in trade transportation industry
  • Previous experience in international logistics and brokerage.
  • Specific knowledge of input and export process of finished goods
  • CargoWise experience preferred
