Job Summary

Flex Logistics BV is part of the Global Operations and Supply chain organization.   From the Netherlands logistics Site (800 + employees) headed in Oostrum, North Limburg, we provide supply chain and logistics services in the EMEA region for various international customers.

As Business Unit Director you are mainly responsible for some multi-client accounts and will oversee all aspects of logistics operations, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and the highest standards of service delivery. You will lead a diverse team, manage logistics processes, and collaborate with various departments to achieve the strategic goals. This role requires a proactive leader with a hands-on approach and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. You are a member of the Site Senior Management Team and report to the General Manager.

Responsibility areas:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement operational strategies that align with company goals and enhance overall logistics performance. 
  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, including Program Management, Customer focus teams, Operations Management.   You will be supported by services as HR, Finance, Engineering, IT, Project mgt.
  • Process Optimization: Continuously identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reductions, and efficiency gains across all logistics functions.
  • Client Relations: Maintain strong relationships with key clients, ensuring their logistics needs are met with exceptional service and innovative solutions.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor key performance indicators (SLA's / KPI's) to track and enhance service levels, operational efficiency, safety, quality, and productivity. (MBR/QBR cycles)
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure all operations comply with relevant regulations and industry standards, prioritizing safety and sustainability.
  • Project Management: Lead and participate in cross-functional projects to optimize unit and site managerial business processes.
  • Financial & Budget Management: Full responsibility for customer/ site P&L. Develop and manage budgets for the units, ensuring cost control and financial efficiency. Drive revenue growth through the identification and exploitation of new business opportunities.
  • Employee Management: Lead a diverse workforce, including promoting a positive and inclusive work environment. Oversee talent management and development programs to build a high-performing team. Ensure compliance with labour laws and company policies.

The profile we're looking at requires:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in logistics or supply chain. management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role with P&L responsibilities
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead and inspire teams, with excellent interpersonal and communication as well as decision making and project management skills.
  • Financial Skills:  Strong pproficiency in managing financial business analytics
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience in process improvement methodologies.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with logistics software and technologies, including WMS, TMS, and ERP systems.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in English and Dutch, both spoken and written.
  • Personal Attributes: Highly organized, stress-resistant, and hands-on mentality.
  • The position requires by preference a Netherlands citizen.
