Supports operational audits by following established procedures and guidelines while completing assigned tasks related to audit processes. Contributes to audit teams by collecting information and reviewing data/documentation. Performs testing to ensure processes are being followed according to requirement and/or regulations and document results; drafts findings for review by supervisor. Prepares appropriate documentation and workpapers using audit software.

Essential Job Responsibilities

1. Support Operational Audits by following established procedures and guidelines while completing assigned tasks related to audit process.

2. Contributes to audit team(s) by collecting information and reviewing documentation.

3. Performs testing to ensure processes are being followed according to requirement and/or regulations and document results, drafts findings for review by supervisor.

4. Prepares appropriate documentation and workpapers using automated audit software and written audit programs.

5. Examines accounting, compliance, and financial records while learning to appraise internal controls, and operational and administrative functions, for efficiency and effectiveness.

6. Informs Audit Supervisor(s) of audit progress and/or difficulties, and provide updates of potential changes or enhancements to work programs based upon circumstances encountered during the course of audit.

7. Coordinates and communicates with other departments and external auditors as necessary to facilitate the exchange of necessary information and documentation.

8. Learns basic banking terminology and core products and acquires a basic understanding of bank business processes and their inherent risks and mitigating controls.

9. Enhances knowledge of accounting principles. Works to comprehend audit standards and techniques as well as laws and regulations relative to audit function.

10. Develops skills to go beyond the mechanical steps of the audit program and interpret the results of audit work performed. Works to identify weaknesses and make recommendations for cost-justified improvements in operations.

Bona Fide Occupational Qualifications

1. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent coursework and/or experience required.

2. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, experience with automated audit software and/or bank systems helpful but not required.

3. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills.

4. Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to travel regionally as required.

5. May be eligible for Telecommuting.
