Summary:

This position is part of a team of skilled individuals. The Media Specialist leads research, development and execution of campaigns for various traditional and media outlets. This role prepares plans for paid and unpaid media relations, organizes budgets, monitors expenses, and reports exposure and ROI.

Responsibilities:

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Performs duties and responsibilities according to supervisor's direction, following department policies and procedures. Carries out the duties and responsibilities of position without specific supervision with the ability to handle multiple projects/tasks concurrently with organizational detail.
  2. Work directly with internal and external clients to identify project specifications and customer expectations.
  3. Communicate the organization's mission and vision to the public through ongoing media and community relations.
    • Provide information to funding agencies and community partners as needed regarding the organization.
  1. Serve as content lead and media relations representative for all non-crisis communication and secondary support for crisis communication.
    • Responsible for coordinating media requests and accompanying visitors on campus as well as organizational representatives when speaking to media.
    • Organize press conferences and always accompanies media.
    • Monitor all media activity and placement; and ensure timely distribution of organization mentions by the media to key internal stakeholders through Director.
    • Develop and disseminate news, features, interviews, photo and video releases, proactive and reactive media communications.
  1. Collaborate with the Graphic and Multimedia Design Coordinator to monitor campaign production, addressing concerns and ensuring the organization's message is high-quality and consistent.
    •  Lead content development and copywriting for external communication.
    • Analyze effectiveness and report ROI of all traditional campaigns to Director.
  1. Develop traditional and digital campaign strategies in collaboration with the Digital Marketing Specialist and Director.
    • Execute marketing campaigns across all traditional channels – newspaper, radio, direct mail, T.V., etc. – to attract qualified audiences and engage prospects.
    • Assist Digital Marketing Specialist with other media coordination, such as website content, CRM and digital promotions.
  1. Lead budgeting, placement, and submitting invoices/charges to accounts payable and appropriate departments.
  2. Work under tight deadlines and make quick decisions while maintaining good judgment in the interest of the organization.
  3. Coordinate the onboarding process for providers and media relations within this process.
  4. Support and work effectively with multidisciplinary health care teams.
    • Demonstrates behaviors that promote positive customer relations with physicians, staff, patients, and visitors.
  1. Responsible for maintaining a departmental climate of openness, fairness, acceptance of criticism and discussion of ideas.
    • Greets all individuals coming into the department, assisting them as required.
    • Resolves conflicts both within and outside the department in an expeditious manner.    

Hours will be dependent on patient census and workload. Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, to include after-hours and weekends as necessary.

The requirements listed below must be representative of the knowledge, skills, minimum education, training, licensure, experience, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's Degree preferred.

EDUCATION FIELD OF STUDY:

Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or Communications preferred. 

Previous Experience Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:

Previous marketing experience preferred.

Previous public relations experience preferred.

Previous healthcare experience preferred.

Five years of previous experience in field preferred. 

Skills/Knowledge Requirements:

SKILLS:

Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language required.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills including familiarity with Associated Press style required. 

Strong interpersonal relationship skills preferred.

Ability to work on concurrent and time-sensitive projects with attention to detail preferred.
