Envision Physician Services is seeking another Hospitalist to join our team at Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital located in San Antonio, TX.

We are currently seeking experienced and dedicated Hospitalist Physicians to join our team at Methodist Specialty and Transplant HM. As a Hospitalist Physician, you will be part of a dynamic program focused on providing exceptional care to our specialty and transplant patients. Your expertise in managing complex medical conditions, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and ensuring continuity of care will contribute to positive patient outcomes and experiences.

Responsibilities:

  1. Physician and APP Staffing:
    • Participate in a 3-physician and 2-APP program
    • Physician staffing:
      • 2 physicians for day shifts.
      • Night call from home.
    • APP staffing:
    • 1 APP for night shifts.
    • The APP takes admissions from the ER and handles calls from nurses regarding patients on the Hospitalist census.
    • Overnight admissions are seen by the APP and assigned to a hospitalist for follow-up the next day.
  2. Open ICU Management:
  3. Collaborate with Intensivists to manage the Open ICU.
  4. Intensivists are available 24/7, either on-site or reachable by phone.
  5. Coordinate admissions and consultations with the Intensivist team.
  6. Act as the primary attending physician for patients in the Open ICU, regardless of their location.
  7. ED physicians are responsible for running codes.
  8. Physicians may perform procedures if they are privileged, although time constraints may limit these opportunities.
  9. Follow a round and go model with a 2-physician coverage system.
  10. Call shifts are split from 7 am to 1 pm and 1 pm to 7 pm, alternating between physicians.
  11. Provide comprehensive rounding and patient care during the assigned shift.
  12. Manage an average daily census with a goal of 18-22 encounters per day.
  13. Typically operate towards the higher end of the encounter range.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
  • Active medical license and unrestricted ability to practice medicine.
  • Must be a valid US Citizen or Permanent Resident. Unfortunately we cannot consider J-1 or H-1B Visa holders at this hospital.
  • Experience in hospital medicine, including specialty and transplant patient care.
  • Excellent clinical skills in managing complex medical conditions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated with current medical knowledge and practices.
