We are currently seeking an Associate Program Director who will assist the EM Residency Program Director with all aspects of the program administration, educational quality, and operations. The residency was founded in 2016 and is based at Aventura Hospital & Medical Center, a teaching hospital for the FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, and home to GME Programs in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Anesthesia, Surgery, Radiology, Transitional Year and Podiatry.
The position comes with a faculty appointment at the Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine in the Department of Emergency Medicine and Critical Care at the rank/title of assistant professor or higher, depending on qualifications.
You will be joining a cohesive and collegial community of clinical and academic faculty with demonstrated passion for, and commitment to, EM education for students, residents and faculty. Preference will be given to candidates who have one or more of the following:
- The Associate Program Director must possess the requisite specialty expertise and competence in clinical care and teaching abilities, as well as documented educational and administrative abilities and experience in their field.
- Leadership capabilities, including excellent communication and organizational skills
- At least two years of experience as a core faculty member of an ACGME accredited Emergency Medicine Residency is desirable
- Additional training in education, faculty development, and management is desirable.
- Current certification in the specialty by the American Board of Emergency Medicine, or possess qualifications judged to be acceptable by the Program Director, Designated Institutional Official, and Graduate Medical Education Committee.
