Ensco Inc. is actively seeking a Staff Systems Engineer, with expertise in communications systems and networking technologies. This pivotal role is at the heart of our Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) endeavors at Vandenberg Space Force Base (VSFB), a cornerstone of our nation's space exploration and defense initiatives.

Your mission involves laying the groundwork for the "Spaceport of the Future" model, a visionary project set to redefine access to space and technology. Key Responsibilities:
•    Identify new range system solutions and integrate efficiencies in alignment with range objectives to include procurement, assessment, and a demonstration that streamlines operations, creating efficiencies in both operations and process
•    Perform engineering of system architectures, requirements analysis and decomposition, including system performance test and verification
•    Conduct engineering analyses to predict and define problems, define/design actionable corrective measures, and operational implementation of Launch Range and Network systems 
•    Support system and subsystem requirements, architecture, and risk management products. 
•    Support project life cycle activities, including pre-award acquisition, requirements and design reviews, integration, test, logistics, and operational turnover
•    Engineer comprehensive system architectures and perform requirements analysis and decomposition, focusing on system performance test and verification 
•    Enhance support for system and subsystem requirements, architecture, and risk management, with a particular focus on advanced communication and networking technologies
•    Provide insights to program leadership on emerging requirements and market opportunities for the implementation and integration of advanced communication systems including VoIP and 5G
•    Work with developers and associate contractors with and through government counterparts
•    Track requirements to subsystems, generate requirements documentation, validate design meets requirements
•    Participate or lead technical meetings and government-led studies, assess technical baselines, and ensure system and project modifications meet requirements
•    Collaborate with leadership to guarantee that technologies and mission planning are continuously harmonized, enhancing mission capability and delivering value to customers through cutting-edge communication solutions
 

Qualifications

•    Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) techniques and tools: Demonstrated ability to apply MBSE methodologies to create, analyze, and manage complex system models. Familiarity with leading MBSE software platforms such as MagicDraw, Cameo Systems Modeler, or Rhapsody.
•    Knowledge of Microwave Systems, Low Speed Serial Data Transport, and ATM Network Migration to IP. A solid foundation in the principles and practical application of microwave communication systems, including experience with designing, implementing, and troubleshooting low speed serial data transport mechanisms. 
•    Expert knowledge in VoIP technologies, including SIP (Session Initiation Protocol), RTP (Real-time Transport Protocol), and codec optimization, with experience in the design, deployment, and management of scalable VoIP solutions to ensure high-quality voice communications over IP networks.
•    Previous experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing 5G communication networks, with a deep understanding of 5G NR (New Radio) architecture, protocols, and standards, including network slicing, beamforming, and Massive MIMO technologies, to ensure high-speed, reliable, and efficient communication solutions. 
•    Experience in the design, deployment, and management of virtual networks, with in-depth knowledge of network virtualization technologies, including SDN (Software-Defined Networking), NFV (Network Functions Virtualization), and cloud networking principles, to create flexible, scalable, and efficient networking solutions for dynamic enterprise environments
•    Experience in Public Cloud Infrastructure Build and Deployment, Infrastructure Automation (Ansible/Terraform), Networking, Security, High Availability / Disaster Recovery (HA/DR).
•    Master's Degree in Systems Engineering Field, Software Engineering, Computer Science or demonstrated experience.
•    Working knowledge of Eastern and/or Western Launch Ranges.
•    Engineering experience with Launch and Test Range Systems (LTRS), IP Networks, Range of the Future (ROTF), and related.
•    Cyber, technical, or project-related certifications, such as CISSP, CSEP, or PMP.
•    Current DOD TS or TS/SCI security clearance.

Requirements

•    Bachelor's Degree in the Systems Engineering Field, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Communications Systems Engineering and/or equivalent with 7 years of industry experience. 
•    7 years of experience one of the following,  Project Management, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, Information & Network Security, and Network Management 
•    7 years of experience with expertise in design, development, integration, and testing of communications systems and information systems
•    Experience in transitioning ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) networks to IP-based systems and the ability to manage the complexities of network evolution effectively. This includes familiarity with network protocols, infrastructure planning, and the integration of legacy and modern communication technologies to ensure seamless, efficient network operations.
•    Experience with requirements traceability, system-of-systems integration and testing, test planning, development, test execution/witness, and test reporting
•    Experience with project, and systems' engineering tools such as MBSE, STK, JIRA, Webex, Teams, Visual req View (VrV), SolarWinds, and similar.
•    Technical skills to understand and analyze system problems, root cause analysis, schedule risk assessment, solution definition, and conduct in-depth technical trade analysis, assessments and explain results of technical studies in a system engineering context.
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills.
•    Strong problem-solving skills.
•    AN ACTIVE DOD SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE IS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION FOR WHICH, YOU MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN
