General Summary:
Under limited supervision, partners with current unemployment cost management vendor to ensure timely responses to all unemployment claim data requests. Identifies training opportunities and key areas for process improvements related to the unemployment process. Works with HRSS management and internal partners to deploy solutions. Assists with development of unemployment communications and training for DG line managers/partners. Assumes the “subject-matter expert” role related to state and federal unemployment laws and regulations. May also assist with other compliance and support related projects and initiatives. Position requires complete confidentiality and serves as first point of contact for unemployment questions and concerns.
Job Details:Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day information requests from third party vendor related to unemployment claims and appeals and respond within the pre-established time frame.
- Email Requests.
- Phone Requests.
- Fax Requests.
- Monitor the overall unemployment activity for Dollar General and identify areas of opportunity with an emphasis on cost management.
- Assist with developing communications/training and seek ways to improve overall awareness within Dollar General to drive unemployment cost management.
- Extract data from various systems using several reporting tools in order to perform compliance, reporting or other special projects as assigned.
- Maintain various logs and databases to track data relating to Dollar General's unemployment activity.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
- Keen awareness of federal and state unemployment law including an understanding of FUTA, SUI and SUTA regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Access with the ability to analyze data.
- Ability to understand payroll schedules and operations to ensure accurate interfacing between functions.
- Demonstrated strong customer service, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with others across multiple business units.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
- Ability to maintain confidential information in a sensitive and appropriate manner.
- Ability to communicate effectively and interact tactfully with all levels of management regarding sensitive matters.

- Demonstrate strong attention to detail.
- Basic understanding of human resources policies and procedures.
Work Experience &/or Education:
- High school diploma required. Additional college education in business is preferred.
- Experience with HR information systems and HR processes is required. Experience with Lawson and knowledge of Report Writer is preferred.
- Demonstrates a clear understanding of data, relationships and system manipulation plus a high-level proficiency with Microsoft office applications.
- Experience must also include a working knowledge of the unemployment claims management process.
