General Summary:

Responsible for managing various environmental compliance tasks including analysis and reporting on items being placed in the EC bins and will use this data to increase compliance throughout the field organization. Works with all levels of field management and external regulatory agencies to ensure compliance. Assists with all day-to-day tasks for new, relocating, closing, and existing stores as well as more complex long-term project management related to assigned trash and environmental compliance tasks including auditing.

Job Details:

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Researching and supplying responses to all regulatory compliance visits. This will include communicating directly with regulators to ensure we are compliant and limiting impact to store operations. 
  • Ongoing analysis of data showing items being placed in the environmental compliance bins. This data will be used to increase training as needed and make other adjustments to ensure higher compliance and to reduce costs. This position will be responsible for communicating with all levels of field management. 
  • Assists with day-to-day tasks involved with trash and environmental compliance for all locations.
  • Perform monthly compliance and invoice audits related to environmental compliance and trash.
  • Researches and identifies root causes of consistent environmental compliance issues and presents to manager to avoid issues in the future and reduce overall costs to DG.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Experience in the environmental compliance or trash field.
  • Ability to be a team player and focus on the customer driven initiatives.
  • Highly organized and advanced office skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, often with conflicting schedules.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of management and external vendors.
Qualifications:

Work Experience &/or Education:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred (preferably with a business emphasis) or technical degree with three to five years relevant work experience.
  • Previous experience with environmental compliance preferred.
