General Summary:

The Senior Benefits Specialist administers a broad range of U.S.-based health and welfare plans, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and other employee benefits programs. This role has a focus in shaping how Dollar General employees and covered family members experience and engage with their insurance and well-being programs. The Senior Benefits Specialist will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to optimize benefits and deliver a positive employee experience.

Job Details:

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development and ongoing administration of health, welfare, and wellness benefit programs, including attending partner meetings, supporting department projects, actively participating in benefits governance and compliance, and supporting employee escalations.
  • Oversee administration of the Adoption Reimbursement Program and Tuition Reimbursement programs.
  • Coordinate with internal and external partners to drive awareness of benefit initiatives, including coordinating design, review, and distribution of benefits education and awareness collateral. Serve as primary point of contact for engagement campaigns, such as Annual Enrollment and national health month promotions. Oversee communications budget.
  • Curate and manage engaging content across multiple navigation platforms, ensuring its content is engaging and accurate. Identify opportunities to deliver timely, personalized messages to targeted audiences in an integrated manner across multiple platforms. 
  • Assist benefits leadership with population health and engagement trends, leveraging data warehouse, vendor reporting, and other data sources.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Knowledge of benefit related laws and regulations, such as the Affordable Care Act, HIPAA, and COBRA is a plus.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters, and balance empathy for employees with plan rules and limitations.
  • Strong technical writing, design, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to take complex or technical information to create clear and concise messages.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills. The ability to balance and produce quality deliverables in a fast-paced environment that often has competing deadlines.
  • Contributes to a positive team environment, working effectively as an individual contributor and team member
  • Proficiency using office technology (Outlook, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint).
  • Maintains a resilient attitude, can receive feedback and rebound from setbacks and adversity when facing difficult situations.
Qualifications:

Work Experience &/or Education:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, Human Resources or related

    field or equivalent work experience
