The Division of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) is seeking a dedicated, collaborative rheumatologist with superb clinical acumen to join our team as a full-time physician. This position offers a dynamic opportunity to provide specialized, interdisciplinary care to patients with Sjögren's Disease at the UPMC Sjögren's Disease Center. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in participating in Sjögren's clinical trials to advance both patient care and research. Experience in musculoskeletal and salivary gland ultrasound would be a highly advantageous asset. The rheumatologist will also cover general rheumatology clinics and provide inpatient care in the UPMC system at Pittsburgh-based hospitals. As an academic medical center, UPMC offers ample opportunities for rheumatologists to actively engage with and mentor trainees, contributing to the educational mission of the institution.

Qualifications:

  • ABIM board certified in Internal Medicine, and BC/BE in Rheumatology
  • Have a medical license (MD or DO) to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
  • Must have completed an accredited fellowship in Rheumatology
  • Proficiency in musculoskeletal and salivary gland ultrasound
  • Possess exceptional clinical knowledge and clinical acumen
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and colleagues
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with advancements in rheumatology
Key Responsibilities:
  • Full-time Attending physician will provide 8 outpatient sessions per week.
    • Including dedicated clinics at the University of Pittsburgh Sjögren's Disease Center
  • Provide a minimum of 12 inpatient weeks and 12 inpatient weekends per year
  • Participate in Sjögren's clinical trials and clinical research
  • Provide quality rheumatology instruction and training in the inpatient/outpatient settings to medical students, residents, fellows, and other healthcare professionals
  • Interact with their academic and basic science colleagues in the Division of Rheumatology and the Department of Medicine as part of their employment; this includes but is not limited to attending division and departmental faculty meetings, serving on committees; working to solve /address quality concerns; attending grand rounds; and participation in longitudinal observational cohort studies.
