Under the direction of the Dean or Assistant Dean, the Adjunct Nursing Faculty (RN) is responsible for the supervision and teaching of students during the clinical placement portion of nursing courses and for assisting the student in achieving clinical course objectives. Service to the college, community, health system, and profession are integral aspects of the Adjunct Nursing Faculty (RN) role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Implements the college's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching, and service to the college, community, health system and profession
Assumes responsibility for all autonomous aspects of individual teaching loads
Plans clinical experiences for and provides supervision and evaluation of nursing students delivering nursing care to an individual or group of individuals
Makes self-available to staff at clinical affiliation site
Evaluates and provides documented feedback to students on level of performance based on course objectives
Available to students for remediation as needed
Orients and maintains current knowledge related to agency/clinical policies, procedures, and expectations with the assistance of agency/clinical personnel
Develops and posts written clinical assignments consistent with student's knowledge base, skill competency level and individual learning needs
Reviews and grades written assignments submitted by students in a timely manner per protocol
Contributes to ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of the college's programs
May teach didactic course content under the supervision of the course coordinator
Communicates all student and/or agency issues and concerns to course coordinator in a timely manner
Complies with all applicable regulatory rules and standards and state scope of practice
Minimum Requirements:
Master's Degree in Nursing is preferred except in states where minimum requirement for a clinical instructor is a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Current Registered Nurse License for the state in which the nurse practices
Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable
Current CPR if applicable
TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
Computer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age
