The Highlights: The Technical Lead, AV/ IT Solutions will provide technical leadership to support strategic decision making and project planning related to learning environment, event space, and specialized facilities technology and tier 2 end user support services within CDM. The position will direct and manage the following functional areas and their staff: AV Engineering and Design, Media Systems, Special Event AV Support, Classroom Operations and their associated Help Desk functions. In coordination with the Administration, develop and implement policies, procedures and best practices for classroom technology and end user support within the College of Computing and Digital Media. 
 


What You'll Do:

  • Enhance quality of learning through technology in School of Cinematic Arts'  production and post-production settings, School of Computing's online learning (via Zoom Rooms), and School of Design's collaboration spaces including large format LED walls and complex AV control systems.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Technology, create, review, update, and develop standards, policies and process improvements related to AV, classroom technology and media systems strategic planning within CDM. Create and update CDM AV, Media Systems, and Classroom Technology Roadmap and 5 year technology refresh plan. 
  • Lead, plan, oversee, and manage all technology-enabled space-related projects from design and budgeting to construction and commissioning within CDM. Coordinate with adjacent functional areas including lecture capture, desktop engineering/helpdesk, and software development as needed. Serve as technical lead for projects in close partnership with integrators.
  • Manage staff installing and maintaining hardware and related software for all audio/video systems and digital signage systems within the College of Computing and Digital Media. This also includes the Television and Broadcast Journalism theater and studio facilities of the College of Communication within the College of Computing and Digital Media. 
  • Operate an effective tier 2 support operation supporting engineering issues identified by CDM's classroom technology operations (tier 1 support) team.
  • Manage, support, and grow 3 full time technical staff positions (2) AV Technician, Media Systems Engineer
     

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's required.  Master of Science preferred. Equivalent combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted as appropriate.
  • At least 5 years of audio/video experience is required.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging audio and video equipment required.
  • Expert knowledge of technology relating to AV over IP and associated hardware.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals and network protocols and troubleshooting as related to AV.
  • Proficiency with Dante, AES67, MADI, AVB, NDI, and related AV over IP protocols. Dante certification preferred. 
  • Audio and video calibration experience desirable
  • Generate and review CAD line diagrams & manifests or BOMs for internal projects and AV Integrators.
  • Excellent problem solving skills required. Able to translate user requirements of simple to high complexity into efficient and
    effective technology solutions. Requires frequent and ongoing collaboration with business partners.
  • Computer proficiencies in a Mac and Windows environment are required.
  • Knowledge of NLEs and DAWs (Adobe Premiere & Pro Tools for example), media file formats, conversion tools and utilities required.
  • Cinema projection experience and DCP workflow knowledge desirable.
  • Manage, mentor, and grow new and existing staff members.
  •  CTS, CTS-I or CTS-D highly desirable.
  • CEA (Certified Audio Engineer) and CEV (Certified Video Engineer) certification via the Society of Broadcast Engineers highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Crestron Programming desirable.
  • QSC Level 1 or higher certification required.
  • QSC Programming knowledge highly desirable.
  • Membership in technology standards bodies including AVIXA, IEEE, SMPTE preferred.
  • Experience and familiarity with various AV manufacturer hardware and related software tools including Crestron, Shure, Extron, Epson, Vaddio, Barco, Panasonic, Brightsign, Blackmagic Design, Yamaha, Meyer Sound, etc.
