Description

The Ralph H Johnson VA Health Care System is recruiting a Hematology/Oncology Physician for our Charleston, SC location. This individual works as a physician and is accountable for providing direct patient care to outpatient and inpatient Veterans in accordance with approved clinical privileges in internal medicine and hematology-oncology. This responsibility includes collaboration with ARNPs or PAs in the care of such patients.

Provide state of the art outpatient care to hematology/oncology patients which includes new consultations, initiation, and management of chemotherapy, maintaining proficiency with appropriate procedures required for care of such patients, and follow-up care of such patients.

-Manage chronic medical problems and preventive medicine such as management of problems specific to hematology /oncology patients.

-Provide consultative care to inpatients with hematology/oncology related issues, including initiating and managing Chemotherapy.

-Participate in the training of medical students, residents, and fellows on the hematology service.

-Promote an atmosphere of efficiency and accuracy in the timeliness of completed documents.

-Collaborate and supervise ARNPs and PAs working in the Section.

-Actively participate in Section activities to ensure that the Veterans are receiving the best care possible.

-Will attend Oncology/Hematology related committees, work groups, etc.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Education and length of practice are considered through formal pay-setting process to determine the final compensable salary (Base Pay + Market Pay)

$225,000-$348,000
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)
Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided
Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
