The Richmond Veterans Affairs Medical Center VA Richmond Health Care | Veterans Affairs, is actively searching for a Deputy ACOS (Associate Chief of Staff) who specializes in Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine and is board certified in these areas. We strongly believe that having a physician who is Board certified in Geriatrics and/or Hospice & Palliative Medicine will greatly enhance our ability to meet the unique needs of our patients. As a member of our team, you will have the privilege of working alongside a supportive and collaborative group of experienced and mid-career faculty members. We highly value candidates who have experience in program development, medical education and as a supervisory physician manager. This role requires exceptional leadership skills, the ability to effectively guide and mentor other physicians and interdisciplinary teams.

Geriatrics and Extended Care (GEC) service includes programs outpatient geriatrics, Community Living Center/nursing home care, Home-Based Primary Care, Inpatient and Outpatient Palliative Care, hospice care, pre-operative optimization, transitional care, non-institutional care, and State Veteran Home partnership. Geriatrics and HPM fellows, Internal Medicine residents and medical students from Virginia Commonwealth University complete their rotations with GEC faculty.
Key Roles:

  • Lead service wide quality improvement and process improvement projects
  • Collaboration with facility health informatics, quality management, medical and surgical specialty leadership
  • Lead interdisciplinary teams to provide excellent patient care.
  • Program development and expansion to provide regional services.
  • Physician and Advance Practice Provider performance management.
  • Lead/participate in local or VISN-level committees.
  • Supervise clinical and administrative staff.
  • Administrative roles to ensure clinical operations, clinic access and community-care partnership.
