POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is an Office Professional for the Financial Aid Office. The primary responsibilities are processing verification and manual review of financial aid applications as well as monitoring changes with residency and degree programs, document scanning and completion of document requests for students, staff, and third parties including MI Works/subsidized housing/scholarships. In addition, providing customer service at the front counter, phones, email, performing data entry, managing rosters for State of MI Frontliners/Reconnect programs, and assisting the Director and advisors on projects as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Review student files and FAFSA's
    • This entails processing verification and manual review of financial aid applications as well as monitoring residency changes, program changes, housing verification, and graduating students.
  • Data Entry
    • Process loans and any incoming documentation received from students and input into the Colleague system.
    • Enter completed student loans on a student's award package. Process electronic communications through Colleague and Delta e-mail.
  • Log in material received from students into the datatel system, enter awards, denials, and follow up information, and perform any other duties assigned by the Director, and Financial Aid Advisors.
  • Multi-task with minimum errors.
  • Provide face-to-face, phone, and electronic customer service.
    • This entails greeting students and parents, assessing the student's needs, dispensing and assisting with filling out forms, assigning students to Financial Aid Advisors and support staff through the virtual lobby electronic system, and assisting students with various aspects of the application process.
    • This position will work with a large amount of students from a diverse community of learners with various socio-economic, educational, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Internal documents
    • Manage the uploading of state rosters for Frontliners/Reconnect

  • Specific certification, training, apprenticeship or experience in addition to high school diploma or GED.
  • Excellent communication skills
