Summary:

The Group Therapist is an active member of the multi-disciplinary team and serves as the Qualified Mental Health Professional. The primary responsibility of the Group Therapist is to assist and support individuals in achieving their optimal level of functioning. The Group Therapist reports directly to the Program Director.

This position is part of our Adult Mental Health (MH) Services Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP).

Full-Time (40 hours per week) - Monday to Friday - 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Wage Information:

Starting salary: $45,000/year- negotiable based on experience and licensure.

Job Description:

  • Provides case administration to an assigned caseload.

  • Facilitates group process and activity within the program.

  • Contributes to the multidisciplinary treatment team process.

  • Performs clinical assessments and develops/implements treatment plans.

  • Communicates relevant information regarding individual to family and appropriate agencies.

  • Shares in the ongoing assessment of individual's progress.

  • Knowledge of mental health and/or intellectual and developmental disability diagnoses and symptomology.

  • Knowledge of general principles of psychopathology.

  • Knowledge of medical and psychiatric terminology.

  • Knowledge of regulations governing the treatment of people in psychiatric health facilities.

  • Knowledge of group dynamics/processes.

  • Ability to effectively manage crisis situations that may include verbal/physical altercations and/or suicidal/self-injurious thoughts or actions.

  • Ability to conceptualize and plan appropriate therapy programs for individuals seeking mental health treatment.

  • Ability to adapt treatment programs by graduating tasks to meet individual's level of function.

  • Ability to use basic medical and psychiatric terminology.

  • Ability to understand professional confidentiality and ethical responsibility.

Qualifications:

This position requires one of the following combinations of education and experience:

Graduate from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in social work, psychology, nursing or rehabilitation and one year of mental health clinical experience per regulations

Additional requirements include:  

  • Must have a valid driver's license, good driving record, and access to a reliable vehicle to attend trainings, meetings.
