POSITION SUMMARY
-
The Operating Room Aide is responsible for maximizing the efficiency of the operating rooms (OR) before, during and after surgical procedures by assisting with room set up and turnover, supplies and equipment set up, environmental sanitation and clinical support.
- Education and Experience:
- High school graduate or GED equivalent preferred. Prior healthcare experience preferred.
- License/Certificates:
- American Heart Association BLS certification required within 30 days of hire. Certified Surgical Cleaning Technician (CSCT) within 6 months of hire (effective January 4, 2023).

- Apply knowledge related to hygiene, safety, blood borne pathogens, transmission-based precautions, cleaning and disinfection.

- Clean surfaces and equipment in the OR, perform proper OR decontamination after each surgical procedure. Perform terminal cleaning of Pre, Post and PACU patient care space, endoscopy suites, procedure room, central processing (decontam and assembly areas), and operating rooms. Provide daily cleaning to lounge, locker, bathrooms, hallways, storage areas and desk areas.
- Perform various transport duties including lab, supplies and equipment.
- Ensure supplies, instruments and equipment are available for surgical procedures using the picklist.
- Assist clinical staff with tasks needed inside and outside of OR. Opens sterile supplies for procedures under direct supervision of appropriate staff.
- Pick supplies and instruments for upcoming cases.
- Assist with medical emergencies following established procedures and guidelines.
- Clean, disinfect, dust and vacuum all areas throughout the surgery department.
- Clean ORs between surgical cases and terminally clean following last case of the day in that room.
- Assist in opening sterile supplies and instruments during procedure set up
- Retrieve equipment needed for cases prior to or during cases.
- Assist in transfer of patient to and from OR table.
- Restock PPE and surgical attire in all designated locations.
- Maintain stock and cleanliness of PAPR's.
- Restock ORs as needed.
- Demonstrate standards of excellence when other duties are assigned.
The pay range for this role is $17.43 to $20.36.
