Senior Specialist, Salary Administration

Under the general direction of the Assistant Director of Salary Administration Human Resources, this position is responsible for coordinating all aspects of assigned professional, classified and part-time contract/personnel processing for the college's salary administration activities, which consist of all employee types (Faculty, Professional, Classified and all Part-time professional and wage employees).

This position serves as the subject matter expert for payroll, leave, I-9, personnel file creation and maintenance. This position will be the backup for the Coordinator and Assistant Director of Salary Administration so this position exercises considerable independent decision making concerning all matters pertaining to Salary Administration. Additionally, this position provides consultative expertise and coverage for matters pertaining to part-time employment and retention processes and assisting departments across the organization in key salary administration processes. Assist departments in hiring and onboarding, and termination processes in accordance with established policies. Run, review, and analyze reports related to adjunct and hourly employment statuses and work closely with department Chairs and Deans, as well as Talent Acquisition, to ensure part-time recruitment pools are being utilized efficiently and strategically.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; OR equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 2 years of related experience

The ideal candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Working Knowledge of CSN, Federal, State of Nevada (NRS and NAC) and NSHE employee related rules, regulations, policies, and Procedures

  • Working knowledge of principles and practices of Human Resources Management including but not limited to payroll, leave, compensation, and talent acquisition

  • Working knowledge of USCIS form I-9 procedures and practices

  • Strong verbal and communication skills

  • Working knowledge of State Retentions Policies and Schedules

  • Ability to prioritize projects and establish timelines

  • Supervision and training of employees

  • Coordinate phases of multiple projects through their completion

  • Working knowledge of applicable leave-related laws, regulations, and policies

  • Proficiency in use of a personal computer and current software applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

  • Ability to make decisions and take actions independently for a variety of diverse situations

  • Customer oriented – Patient; empathic; providing excellent service and solutions to our customers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working Knowledge of Federal, State of Nevada (NRS and NAC) and NSHE employee related rules, regulations, policies, and Procedures

  • Working knowledge of principles and practices of Human Resources Management including payroll, compensation, and USCIS form I-9

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize projects and establish timelines

  • Experience working in a customer-oriented atmosphere
