Clark College is currently accepting applications for a part-time, permanent hourly Classified Program Assistant position to work approximately 17 hours a week.  This position supports the Community and Continuing Education department.  The work schedule for this in person position is at the Columbia Tech Center Clark location, Monday – Thursday hours scheduled between 12:15pm-4:15pm. This position will report to the Director of Community, Continuing Education, and Customized Training. 

The Program Assistant will perform a variety of routine clerical duties such as assist departmental staff and faculty, processing documents and records, responding to routine inquiries about the programs offered, maintaining established record keeping, filing and data base systems, and producing forms, letters, record entries and other materials.

Position Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Administratively assist departmental staff. 
  • Support the testing center, including checking in and out.
  • Assist with proctoring tests.
  • Answer basic questions regarding courses and program offerings. 
  • Communicate with staff, faculty, and students. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:
Candidates will be evaluated based on application materials, including the supplemental questions and personal interview(s), and will be required to demonstrate competencies in the following areas:

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, as well as the ability to quickly learn new software systems as required.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse groups and individuals.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

  • The initial appointment will include a 6-month probationary period and the employee will earn permanent status after successfully completing probation.  
  • This position is represented by Washington Public Employees Association. 
  • Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted which includes a sexual misconduct background check as required under RCW 28B.112.080. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position.

 SALARY RANGE: $18.61-$24.71/hour | Range: 37 | Code: 107M 

Successful candidates typically start at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases.
