The Assistant Track Coach reports to the Head Coach, having the primary responsibility of assisting in providing instruction, coaching expertise, and leadership to the student athletes of the intercollegiate Track program; assisting the head coach in the effective management and administration of all aspects relating to a positive and beneficial intercollegiate experience for student-athletes; and performing other related duties as assigned.
Position ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assist the Head Coach while providing guidance to players' academic and athletic experience.
- Assist in recruiting and retaining a full roster of student-athletes for an athletic program
- To coach/coordinate/assist in the supervision of an Athletic Program.
- Attend scheduled athletic contests, attend professional conferences and required institutional meetings, assist with game management as necessary and other duties as assigned.
- Model and ensure diversity and cultural competency (respect, inclusiveness, reflecting, valuing, and welcoming cultural differences) in all position responsibilities regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, social class, sexual orientation, ability, nationality, age, language, origin, or employment status.
- Attend conferences, clinics and professional meetings.
- Follow safety procedures and ensure the work area is maintained in a clean and orderly manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Ability and willingness to manage a flexible work schedule with self-discipline, including travel, various hours and possible weekends/evenings, as well as work days at other college locations.
- Ability to write and communicate at a professional level utilizing a high level of computer skills sufficient to use software such as word processing, spreadsheets and data bases to produce correspondence, documents and reports as required by the position.
- Ability to consistently convey a pleasant and helpful attitude by using excellent interpersonal and communication skills to control sometimes stressful and emotional situations. Requires sufficient communication and human relations skills to resolve complaints/issues, defuse anger, and gain cooperation.
- Knowledge and ability to coach/manage/retain a full-roster for the program.
REQUIRED:
- Two (2) years of successful instruction/coaching in high school or college athletics OR four (4) years of participation at college athletic level
- Red Cross Standard First Aid Certification/CPR OR ability to obtain upon offer of employment.
- Valid unrestricted Washington State driver's license
- Clean driving record
- Preference given to applicants with demonstrated success in coaching adult student-athletes.

STATUS: Part Time Coaching Position
REPORTS TO: Athletic Director/Head Coach
STIPEND: $4,200 / paid during the season
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated on a yearly basis at the conclusion of the sport season.
