Description
The Edmonton Police Service is seeking one (1) organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable individual to support the Canine and Flight Operations Section. This role requires strong organizational skills, independent judgement in prioritizing tasks, multitasking ability, and the capacity to process information from multiple sources. Key responsibilities include:
- Prepares reports, memorandums, and correspondence for Canine and Flight Operations Units. The correspondence and memorandums are complex and specialized documents.
- Act as a civilian member and if called upon to take on the responsibility to Chair during quarterly meetings as part of a Joint Work Site Health and Safety committee. Ensure accountability, raise OHS concerns, and ensure identified deficiencies are addressed and reported to Occupational Health and Safety.
- Electronic filing and organization of performance management/employee review, and employee training documents for 30+ employees.
- Preparation and organize annual vacation schedules ensuring they comply with the Policies and Procedures of the EPS, and the Edmonton Police Association Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Assistance to the Section Commander with Human Resources-related tasks such as employee loans, transfers, and non-standard leave requests.
- Prepare meeting agendas and meeting minutes as required.
- Produces statistical reports and daily highlights as required for both Units utilizing recognized EPS software (Microsoft Office 360 – specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and cloud-based data/word processing programs such as Google docs, Smartsheet, SharePoint, Power BI, Fatfield, Drone management software).
- Oversees compliance and tracking of summons and non-summons violations in accordance to Organizational policies and Alberta Policing Standards. Ensure violations are addressed in a timely fashion, prior to incurring financial penalties
- Intakes, and oversee an electronic tracking system for canine engagements/special circumstance engagements ensuring completion, and remedial training is scheduled. Escalate concerns should non-compliance be encountered.
- Scheduling and managing facility maintenance for two separate facilities including items related to health and safety, and ensuring the repairs are completed and managed
- Work within the Enterprise SAP and ARIBA to track on monitor monthly procurement and provide monthly updates to the Section Commander. Tasks will include completion of Goods Received on behalf of the section
- Maintains control of office inventory (stationary and other office)
- Other related duties as required.
- Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade including business subjects with an emphasis on word and information processing and track, or completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved business school/college.
- A minimum of three (3) years progressively responsible experience in the area of specialization.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills.
- Formal training in Microsoft Office 360 suite or equivalent and cloud-based data and word processing applications such as Google docs, Smartsheet, SharePoint, and Power BI.
- Previous experience working in a Policing Environment would be an asset.
- Professional, friendly team player able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and committed to providing excellent customer service.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced experience in taking accurate meeting minutes.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
Salary Range: 21B, Salary Grade: 013, $28.647 - $35.922 (Hourly), $2,22918.0- $2,873.80(Bi-Weekly), $59,814 - $75,005 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
