Description

The Facility Planning and Design Section contributes to the Integrated Infrastructure Services vision of Building a Great City. As a leader in the City organization, you will have the responsibility of working with your colleagues and the public to translate strategic objectives and outcomes into tangible project plans and designs. Your portfolio of project management oversight will cover a range of projects, from planning and designing new facilities to renewal and improvement projects on existing city facilities, corporate workspace planning, and supporting community groups in their project development. This role will support strategic planning for the corporation and its infrastructure needs.

As the Supervisor of Project Management, you will use your exceptional leadership skills to strategically lead your team in the planning and development of these project portfolios. You will use a lens of continuous improvement to identify efficiencies along the way. The broad array of projects will require an integrated approach to ensure a positive outcome. 

What will you do?

  • Lead a team of program managers, project managers and project coordinators, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget and within scope
  • Focus on the team by building a respectful workplace culture through a values-based influencer approach and working collaboratively
  • Ensure the team has the tools, resources, training and competencies to deliver high quality projects that are on time, on budget and within scope
  • Champion efficient and effective project management through creativity and innovation using resources and alternative forms of contracts and delivery models
  • Ensure the prudent and effective use of resources in the planning and delivery of projects
  • Assure the effectiveness of systems through comprehensive, accurate and transparent reporting and performance management
  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of business level processes and practices 
  • Anticipate opportunities, influence policy, planning and initiatives, and foster a culture of accountability through performance measurement
  • Build new and innovative collaborative partnerships with external agencies, orders of government, community organizations, and internal departments and branches
