Description

The City of Edmonton is looking for seasonal Recreation Program Coordinators, within the Community Recreation and Culture Branch. This role focuses on the development and delivery of free and registered based programs and camps. In this role, you will plan, coordinate, supervise and evaluate all aspects of the Green Shack Program, Leaders In Training (LIT) Program or Indoor Recreation Centre Day Camps throughout the City. You will succeed in this role if you can achieve results in a respectful, inclusive and service-minded way.

We are hiring Program Coordinators  to support the following areas:

  • Green Shack (Northwest, Northeast, Southwest, and Southeast): Provide overall program and safety expectations, training and support for Program Assistants and Program  Leaders who are working at Green Shack park locations (quadrant specific), including coaching and evaluation. 
  • Registered Day Camps: Provide overall program and safety expectations, training and support for Program Assistants and Program leaders who are working at a  variety of Indoor Recreation Centre  Day Camps across the City, including coaching and evaluation. 4  In-services in the evenings would be an expectation to attend. 
  • Leaders In Training (LIT): Provide overall program and safety expectations, training and support  for Program Assistants at multiple city locations as well as  support for youth participants who registered into the LIT program, including coaching and evaluation. LIT's are provided practical hands-on experience city wide for Day Camps and the Green Shack program. Attending In - services in the evenings for Day Camps would be an expectation to attend, as well as a pool appreciation party for the participants on August 23rd, 2026

What will you do?

  • Recruit, hire, train, lead, evaluate, coach and supervise program staff and LIT's
  • Coordinate publicity, book facilities and organize supplies and registration for assigned programs
  • Ensure program and participant safety procedures are being followed
  • Collaborate with organizations, agencies, partners and individuals on specific programs or events
  • Support programs that deal with games, sports, crafts, music, drama and special events
  • Providing excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders, including parents, 311 phone calls and more
  • Develop programs and program resources within established registration, revenue and expenditure guidelines
  • Monitor program budget 
  • Record ongoing statistics, sharing status reports with the supervisor on all activities, including attendance
  • Other related duties as required
