Description
As a Strategic Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation and strategic direction of the Planning & Environment Services Branch. This role reports directly to the Branch Manager and liaises with Branch and Department leadership to complete complex assignments on behalf of the Planning and Environment Services Branch. This role demands someone who thrives in a fast-paced work environment with competing priorities and holds a high degree of initiative when applying critical thinking skills to strategy development, implementation and evaluation, issues management, change initiatives, people management and various improvement projects.
What will you do?
- Coordinate, review and edit Council/Committee reports as well as supporting documents for content, strategic alignment and completeness, and provide direction to staff in their preparation
- Reviewing and analyzing documents such as memos, briefing notes, business plans, and Councillor inquiries, for strategic alignment and flag potential issues that may arise
- Support projects by identifying issues, planning, implementing, and evaluating expected outcomes
- Develop, manage, and implement changes related to various change management efforts (organizational development)
- Build strong working relationships and represent the Branch on a diverse variety of complex corporate initiatives, projects and working teams
- Implement internal Branch communications strategies, employee engagement plans and initiatives to ensure effective communications throughout the Branch
- Identify strategic issues that may affect the Branch and independently research, provide recommendations, and implement actions on behalf of the Branch Manager
- Participate in the development of the branch operating/capital budget and review monthly reporting on the Branch Manager's Office budget
- Acts as the primary interface between directors, inter-department Branch Manager offices and Deputy City Manager offices, and the City Manager's Office
- Provides guidance and informal mentorship to staff and guide branch leadership in the alignment of a variety of corporate, department and branch initiatives
- Support corporate business partner needs and coordinate information updates on behalf of the Branch including providing guidance for Branch leadership team
- Apply exceptional discretion when dealing with confidential or sensitive information on behalf of Branch and Department leadership
