As the Public Safety Business & Data Analyst, you will play a key role in enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of Edmonton Fire Rescue Services. You will be responsible for managing and supporting EFRS software, records, and reporting systems, using your expertise in business analysis, data analysis, and GIS to inform strategic and operational decisions. A major part of your role will involve leading projects aimed at enhancing service delivery and finding efficiencies. You will collect, analyze, and interpret complex data to make recommendations on everything from key performance indicators and resource deployment to strategic planning and community risk assessment. Working collaboratively with a variety of partners, you will be a subject matter expert whose work directly aligns with the EFRS strategic goals and the Fire Rescue Master Plan.  

What will you do?

• Lead and support projects aimed at improving EFRS business processes, systems, and service delivery
• Utilize various records and reporting systems (such as Tableau, Power BI, ESRI GIS) to access, extract, and prepare data for analysis
• Perform complex data analysis, including statistical analysis and trend identification, to generate actionable insights related to performance, resource deployment, and community risk
• Design, develop, and prepare comprehensive reports, interactive dashboards, and clear presentations for various audiences, including EFRS management
• Support strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives by providing data-driven insights and recommendations
• Analyze and interpret data to support policy development and evaluation
• Develop and implement data quality assurance processes to ensure the accuracy and integrity of EFRS data
• Champion data governance principles and best practices within the branch
• Other duties as assigned
