The City of Edmonton is looking for a dedicated and collaborative Project Manager to join our Facility Planning & Design team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead impactful projects that contribute to the development and renewal of City workspaces. You will be at the forefront of delivering work space projects, guiding integrated, multi-disciplinary teams composed of internal staff, external consultants, and contractors. With the authority to lead and make operational decisions, you will be accountable for the successful delivery of assigned projects from inception to completion. This includes managing budgets and schedules, mitigating risks, and ensuring all project deliverables, objectives, and outcomes are met. You will play a vital role in the entire project lifecycle, employing best practices in project management to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. 

What will you do?:  

  • Lead the planning, design, and/or delivery of infrastructure projects, including strategic initiatives to ensure the efficient optimization of City workspaces
  • Oversee furniture requests and vendor contract management for space reconfigurations, repairs and replacements
  • Lead all aspects of work space planning including needs assessments, design and furniture selection while applying systems thinking to manage multiple projects and maintain strategic relationships
  • Collect data for the development of space allocation plans; prepare feasibility studies and reports required to finalize accommodation plans and business cases
  • Prepare and review feasibility studies, master plans, functional programs, design reports, drawings, and specifications
  • Define project goals, objectives, and deliverables to meet the requirements of Project Owners and Sponsors
  • Manage, monitor, and report on project progress, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, scope, and quality standards
  • Implement comprehensive risk management and safety plans for all projects
  • Develop and execute robust public and stakeholder engagement plans in collaboration with the Communications & Engagement team
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and leadership within your project teams
  • Lead, establish and exemplify the desired culture throughout the project teams that supports the IIS Vision and Mission as well as the Corporate Leadership Principles
  • Contribute to the design, implementation and continuous improvement of project management processes and practices
