Are you a project management professional with a passion for public service and a deep understanding of legislative compliance? The Office of the City Clerk is looking for a Project Lead, Legislative Compliance to join our team.
In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth and legally compliant execution of municipal and school board elections, as well as other major civic projects like by-elections, petition validations, and census projects. This position is critical to the Elections & Legislative section, which is responsible for managing these complex, large-scale initiatives that are highly regulated and attract significant public scrutiny. Your work will have a direct impact on public perception and trust in these essential civic processes. What will you do?
- Conduct specialized research and analysis on local elections and municipal governance
- Assess the impact of legislative changes on Edmonton Elections and other legislative projects
- Lead the review of the Election Bylaw, ensuring it meets both provincial requirements and operational needs
- Develop and implement a long-term strategy for maintaining the Permanent Electors Register (PER)
- Work with technical teams to ensure systems like the Elections Logistics Management System (ELMS) are legislatively compliant and secure
- Draft reports for administration and City Council on legislative amendments, policy changes, and project readiness
- Support the development of an evaluation framework for election administration
- Lead and supervise a team of temporary staff during an election or other legislative project
