Description
This position is required to assess residential developments which are being planned across the City of Edmonton to ensure their compliance to Waste Services standards. This position is accountable for ensuring all developments adhere to the standards and allow for safe and efficient waste collection.
What will you be doing?
- Read, interpret and comment on various types of architectural drawings and plans
- Review, interpret and comment on applications for development permits, land use, rezoning, etc.
- Review residential applications made to the City and provide comments and communicate with the applicant on how the standards are specifically applied in the case of their application
- Conduct regular and timely site visits to all properties under construction
- Ensure any deviance from an approved drawing or plan is immediately raised and addressed
- Attend meetings with internal and external stakeholders to discuss developments and ensure they are meeting Waste Services standards
- Support the development of SOP as required
- Support in addressing stakeholder concerns and inquiries
- Be familiar and understand the Waste Services bylaw and ensure it's being adhered to in all new developments
- Attend meetings as required
- Be familiar and understand various City standards such as the Zoning Bylaw, Complete Streets Design standards, etc.
- Assess some residential development in the City for the appropriate size and style of waste containers
- Conduct swept path analysis on assigned properties in Edmonton to ensure the site plan allows for the maneuvering of waste vehicles
- Maintain accurate and complete records of plans, drawings, letters, and any other documents related to all developments
- Use POSSE, SLIM, AutoCad, ArcGIS and other applications as necessary to complete daily tasks
- Address concerns raised by internal and external stakeholders
- Support the creation and update of Waste Services Developer Standards
- Make recommendations for improvements to the development review process, record keeping, etc. to the supervisor
- Support relevant and related projects as needed
